A LITTLE BIT ABOUT KANTHA

Rural housewives in West Bengal India played a significant part in the evolution of Kantha embroidery.

It has been customary in India for women to make use of Kantha, a running stitch and embroidery technique, to create simple quilts, commonly known as nakshi kantha.

Women typically used old saris and cloth and layer them with kantha stitching to make a light blanket, throw, or bedspread.

These traditional techniques are used today, to craft our beautiful Kantha quilts, which see organic cotton combined with hand block printed designs, to make a bespoke piece that can be treasured for generations.
